About

Caroletta-PortraitIt all startet with a collage painting of an elephant wearing trainers and holding a ball while flying over a chequered floor. It took me a few weeks to create that picture. But when it was finished I put it into a golden frame from the flea market and endowed it to my first son. There were many paintings to come and people from all over the world started to buy not only the original art, but also professional prints of the motives. At this time I decided to give up my job as a fashion designer and became a fulltime paintress and illustrator. Over the years my style changed from innocent and infantine to innocent and infantine with a social and political impact. The world is full of wondrous things and cute cartoon-like characters have always been suitable imagery to express the abysmal depths of humanity. I use acrylics and gouache colours for my paintings as well as miscellaneous fabrics and other materials like feathers, newspapers and old book pages. The flying elephant is hanging above the bunk bed in the children’s room today and watches over my first son ...
and his little brother.
